The Hudson Valley Chapter February meeting will be at 10am on February 8th at the Lyndhurst Mansion Carriage House. The meeting will start with Member Show & Tell (that's you!), so bring something to show! Our talk will start around 10:20 and we are fortunate to have Sandra Schaller of Wave Hill Gardens (see bio below!) speaking to us about the Auricula Primulas. The Auriculas are native to mountain ranges in Central Europe and are outstanding for the wide range of colors of the cultivars.

Sandra Schaller

Sandra has been a member of the Wave Hill team since 2019, when she joined as a Nally Intern. Following a 30-year career in advertising and marketing, having held roles with organizations including McCann Erickson, she decided to pursue a career change where she could best leverage her eye for aesthetics and design whilst working with plants. She enrolled in the certificate program at the New York Botanical Garden, focusing on Horticulture for Sustainable Gardening. After completing her studies at NYBG, she held a gardening position with the Willowwood Arboretum (NJ) and was brought on as a seasonal gardener for Wave Hill until she joined the team full time in 2022.

She currently oversees the Alpine House, Wild Garden, and Lavender Border and is most looking forward to exploring renovations and restorations of the Wild Garden. In particular, she is interested in restoring bulbs that have been lost over the years and relying upon historical perspectives to inform decisions moving forward. With the Alpine House, she is eager to build the collection of true alpines to continue to improve space’s quality as an inviting and inspirational destination for visitors.
