Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this forum, and will post an introduction later, but not new to alpines or rock gardening. This Sunday I have one day for a day hike in the Rockies after doing a bike ride in RMNP on Saturday. My question is of the two hikes that I'm considering which one would you suggest - Mt. Ida in RMNP or the DBG Mt. Goliath site? I know - do both, but I can't.
Looking forward to your suggestions.

Re: An Alpine Hike in Colorado Question
Alan
First, welcome to the Forum! Secondly, given the two choices, I would say Mt. Goliath would offer more interest to a plant person interested in not only plants but also because of the work that has gone into creating a high altitude rock garden.
If however, your preference is to actually hike, then Mount Ida is your choice. There are incredible panoramas along the way. Be sure to start early to avoid the afternoon thunderstorms and lightning.
Once again, welcome to the forum.

Hi Hugh,
Thank-you on both accounts. That was pretty much my intuitive thought too.

My pleasure Alan - let me know how your hike(s) turn out!
Welcome! Sorry I can't offer advice, but I hope you enjoy your hike, and it would be wonderful to see some photos of the one you choose. Love to see the sights there at this time of year!
